He was 24-year-old John Patrick Lewsley, Mark Court, Lurgan.

On August 14 last year he was given a combination order for offences of common assault and criminal damage.

But he breached that order and the probation service brought the matter back to court to have him re-sentenced.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, said domestic violence was an ‘insidious feature’ of life.

She added that attempts are made to rehabilitate offenders but in the defendant’s case it had failed and there was only one alternative sentence.

Judge Kelly replaced the combination order with the two month jail term.

Later in the court Lewsley was released on his own bail of £500 to appeal against the sentence.
