County Armagh will be battered by winds up to 80mph over the next 48 hours as part of the “weather bomb” hitting the UK.

Watch this interview with Ross Melville, Met Office adviser for civil contingencies, as he talks about the forecast for the UK for Wednesday and Thursday and advice for commuters

Widespread weather warnings have been issued as a so-called “weather bomb” is set to batter parts of Britain.

Winds of around 80 miles per hour are expected to hit the UK this evening, with severe gales expected across Northern Ireland, north Wales, Scotland and northern England for about 48 hours.

The Met Office issued yellow “be aware” warnings for most of the country and has now upgraded them for Northern Ireland, the west coast of Scotland, the Highlands and islands.
