Once again the Northern Ireland National TaeKwon-Do Team are adding to their medal count for the 2014 season.

At the end of June the NI National Junior Team joined the Adult Team and had their first taste of competing at international level when they attended the Benalmadena Cup in Spain.

Amidst sweltering tempatures and the hype of it all, the eleven member team kept their cool and romped home with an impressive fifteen medals, including five gold, four silver and six bronze.

Leo Maguire Taekwon-Do Schools is the largest Taekwon-Do group across the province and as the Northern Ireland National Coach and President of the International Taekwon-Do Federation (N.I.) Mr. Maguire has led the Northern Ireland National Team to success at both National and International level with the current International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) National, European and World champions among the group.

Leo and his instructors are all N.I. National Team members and are dedicated to encourage each student within the group to achieve his or her full potential, for adults our structured training program offers fitness, friendship and self-defence.

‘I believe strongly that following the teachings of Taekwon-Do has allowed me to produce excellence students of our sport and my instructors and I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to pass our knowledge on to the next generation of champions’. (Leo Maguire, N.I. National Coach)

Leo has introduced ‘Little Tiger Cubs’ to Northern Ireland which is a ‘Learn Through Play’ program for children aged 3-5 years promoting fitness and confidence while building the core skills that every child
needs.

This has proved very successful and as a group they are focused to expand both Taekwon-Do and Little tiger Cubs even further across Northern Ireland.

The group offer free taster sessions in both ‘Taekwon-Do’ and ‘Little Tigers’ to schools across the province to allow as many children as possible to try the sport in a secure and familiar environment.

If you would like to get a closer view of what Taekwon-Do is all about, the Northern Ireland National Taekwon-Do Championships will be held this year on the 28th of September at the Aurora Centre in Bangor and open to the public.
