Wire was showing on the wall of a tyre of a car being driven by a Waringstown man on August 31 last year.
John Christopher Whitla (30), Meadowvale, Waringstown, was fined £100 last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for having a defective tyre on his vehicle.
He was also given three penalty points and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.
For failing to produce his driving licence he was fined £40.
The court heard the offence came to light when he was stopped at a vehicle checkpoint on the Drumgask Road, Craigavon.
A front tyre was completely devoid of tread and wire was showing through the wall of the tyre.
