ORGANISERS of the Mullahead and District Ploughing Match have announced that the annual event will not go ahead this year.
Event secretary, William McCracken, said in a statement; “Unfortunately due to adverse weather conditions and the unavailability of another suitable date, the Mullahead and District Ploughing Match for 2013 is cancelled. The society is extremely disappointed, but it is the only responsible decision that could be made at this time. Hope to see you all February 22, 2014!
“In our 99-year history this is only the fourth year the match has been cancelled, and only the second due to weather conditions! The first being in 1947 because of snow. The other cancellations were during the Second World War, and in 2001 due to the foot and mouth outbreak.”
