BRAZIL were the winners of a special international tournament staged for the first time at Mourneview Park last Saturday.
As well as Brazil teams from Poland, Bulgaria, East Timor and Northern Ireland also took part.

The knock out competition, featuring matches of 15 minutes each way, was played after Glenavon’s friendly against Bray Wanderers.

“It went really well,” said organiser Eddie Drury. “The team had a good day. They watched the Glenavon match and then played on the full size pitch.”

Many of the players live around the Lurgan area and it is hoped that this sort of initiative will encourage some of them to get involved with Glenavon.

The cup was donated by Nigel O’Hara jewellers in Portadown.
