DAVITT Park has been pencilled in to hold an enthralling Senior Championship clash between Pearse Ogs and Tir na nOg.
The game will be played next Sunday week at 6pm but the timing is somewhat unfortunate considering that Crossmaglen play Dromintee at the same time in Carrickcruppin which may give some neutral a difficult choice.

Earlier in the day (August 31st)
Clann Eireann travel to Abbey Park to play St Michaels Newtownhamilton, the game starts at 2pm.

Also on Sunday August 31st, Granemore play Whitecross.

On the Saturday (all at 6pm) Ballymacnab play Mullaghbawn, Carrickcruppin face Armagh Harps and Killeavey tackle Maghery at Ballycrummie.

The Clan na Gael management will have to wait until after the senior first round games considering that the Lurgan side have been given a bye to the quarter finals.

Looking at this season’s senior competition it wouldn’t be surprising to see several draws, Crossmaglen are setting out to chalk up thirteen titles in a row

This year’s final will played at the revamped Athletic Ground and although clubs like Dromintee, Pearse Ogs and Clan na Gael would win several senior title in any other county, the team which eventually lowers the Rangers colours will be the most famous club in Armagh.

Maghery who struggled in division one this season through injuries will be looking to Stephan Forker for inspiration against a Steven McDonnell driven Killeavey team.

The clash of Pearse Ogs and Tir na nOg at Davitt Park will be interesting had Brian Mallon been involved with the Portadown side for more games they could have won the second division. Although Clann Eireann have had an indifferent year, on their best form the Shore Road club could beat St Michael’s on Sunday week.
