LEADING drinks brand, Lucozade Sport, is putting its weight behind Armagh GAA by sponsoring the county's Senior, Intermediate and Junior Football Championships.
Having supported Armagh’s inter-county football and hurling teams for the last ten years, the sports drink brand has now agreed a three year deal which will see it support grass routes development as the official sponsor and sports drink supplier for
the domestic club championships.

At the official sponsorship launch which took place alongside the quarter-final draw at the Armagh Athletics Grounds, Armagh GAA County Chairman, Kevin Brady, announced the three-year deal saying;

“It is fantastic to have the top sports drink brand in the country as the official sponsor of the Championship and to have the commitment of Lucozade Sport over an extended period of time. Lucozade has been supporting GAA in Armagh and in other counties for over ten years and it is great to see the level of sponsorship stepping up a gear. We are very hopeful that this support will assist our teams on a local and national level and on behalf of the board, I would like to welcome Lucozade Sport as our key sponsor,” he said.

John Devlin from Lucozade Sport said that the company was delighted to be supporting Armagh GAA.

“We at Lucozade Sport are delighted to be providing GAA players with the best possible nutritional products and advice to help improve their endurance on the pitch,” said John. “For many years, we have been involved in supporting GAA teams throughout Ireland and in Ulster in particular and this sponsorship takes our commitment to Armagh GAA to the next level. This sponsorship is part of an overall strategy of support for local teams across a number of different sporting disciplines and represents our commitment to providing funding, product and expert advice to athletes and sportsmen and women throughout Northern Ireland,” he added.

Attending the launch, Oisín McConville stressed the importance of businesses getting behind the development of young players.

“It is fantastic to see a well-known brand like Lucozade Sport getting behind Armagh GAA and lending their support to players from junior teams through intermediate level to seniors. I know how important it is to have the support of major brands backing local teams and to have not only funding coming into clubs but also products and expertise that can help give players the edge on the field. I hope this support will encourage players at all levels and will drive the game on in Armagh,” he said.
