No truth in Hamilton rumours

THERE are always certain rumours that do the rounds during each and every transfer window, year after year, and one such story is Gary Hamilton's proposed move to his boyhood club, Glenavon.
This year, however, those rumours were particularly strong, coming from many who claimed to be “in the know” at Glenavon and also Hamilton’s club, Glentoran.
The ‘Mail’ gave Glenavon chairman, Adrian Teer, an opportunity to shed some light on the transfer saga and he replied in somewhat unambiguous fashion.
“I don’t know where the rumours came from,” said Teer. “They were absolute nonsense. Since the new board came in last August, we have made no approach to Glentoran for Gary Hamilton. There is nothing happening on that line.”
Head Coach, Stevie McBride also denied the rumours and played down talk of a transfer in the offing next season.
“There was no truth in the rumours at all,” he said. “Gary’s a Glentoran player and it would be disrespectful to start talking about players who belong to other clubs.
“Next season is a way off and there’s no talk of transfers and players coming in. That will happen as the season progresses and it gets closer to Christmas.”
