A treble for Maralin team

Maralin Village Primary schoolgirls' hockey team are celebrating a treble success.

They have won the Mid-Ulster Championship, the Mid-Ulster League and the McCloy Cup for the Northern Ireland Championship.

Maralin went to the Northern Ireland finals as the Mid-Ulster champions and sailed through the group stages by winning all five matches.

Two more matches against Spires and Antrim saw Maralin still undefeated and through to the semi-finals against Windsor Hill which Maralin won 2-0.

The girls won the final 1-0 after a hard fought match against Cookstown.

The victorious team picked up the McCloy Cup having not conceded a single goal in all nine matches.

Having remained unbeaten in the league Maralin won their section.

They went through to the play offs last week with other section winners, Edenderry Portadown, King’s Park and Windsor Hill.

Maralin remained unbeaten and again failed to concede any goals throughout their three matches which earned them the well deserved title of Mid-Ulster League champions.
