Ladies are in top formto see off Lisnagarvey

Lurgan ladies had a super game when they played at home against Lisnagarvey ladies last Thursday.

Starting with rink one, skipped by Angela Thompson, alongside Mia Patterson, Beth Wilson and Jennifer McVeigh, they got off to a nail-biting start. The first 10 ends were nip and tuck drawing at 6 shots each.

The Lurgan ladies then started to show their character and slowly built up an unassailable lead finishing with a score of Lurgan 23, Lisnagarvey 5¼.

Rink two, skipped by Iris Anderson, playing with Maura McGoldrick, Chloe Wilson and Eileen Robson also had a very tight game, which by end 16 was all square at 11 shots each The game was finally decided on ends 17 and 18, when Lisnagarvey held a shot at each end finishing with a score of Lurgan 11, Lisnagarvey 13.

Rink three was skipped by Teri Millar, along with Joan Bunting, Irene Cunningham and Dot McCoy. These ladies had a brilliant game, having started strongly and achieving an early lead which they never relinquished resulting in a score of Lurgan 18, Lisnagarvey 10. Last, but not least, rink four, skipped by Genny Little, with the supporting cast consisting of Edith Hobson, Winifred Kirkwood and Molly Ward began strongly taking the lead from the start.

Lisnagarvey never gaining a shot until end 9. At this point Lisnagarvey tried to rally but it was too little too late, the game finishing at Lurgan 30, Lisnagarvey 14.

The next game is being played at home on Thursday, July 14 against Holywood and the ladies are hoping to continue their winning form.
