Runs are hard to come by as Thirds chalk upfirst win of season

Lurgan Thirds recorded their first league points of the season with a 57 run win over Laurelvale at Tannaghmore Gardens last weekend.

It was a low scoring game largely due to the terrible outfield conditions with ankle high grass curtailing any traditional cricketing shots that players were trying, which was particularly disappointing for the young players of both sides. It is deflating for players to see good shots that would race to the boundary go for just a single.
Lurgan batted first and scored 100 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted overs. Andrew Sands, in his first match back to the club in years, top scored with 21, Scott Wilson hit 20 and Hannah Grieve 11. In reply, a promising start by Laurelvale eventually faded thanks to some tight bowling from the Lurgan attack giving some impressive bowling statistics.

Gary Archer took 3 for 3 runs, Ben Hunter 2 for 1 and Jack Maxwell 1 for 3.
