Chasing 78 to win, a batting collapse saw Lurgan’s last pairing Sandra Grieve and Julie Hinds at the crease with the Town side still 15 runs short of victory.

However both girls kept calm under pressure, hitting the winning runs in the 22nd over.

CSNI batted first and it was the bowling display of Hannah Grieve in particular that kept the scoring rate low. The CSNI girls had no answer to the Lurgan skipper who finished up with the superb figures of 6 for just 8 runs in her 5 overs. Hannah was well supported buy all of the other Lurgan bowlers particularly Alex Craig who took 2 for 5 in 2.4 overs, Emma McMurray 1 for 13 in 3 overs and Jane Kilpatrick 1 for 14 off 3. Indeed had CSNI opening batsman Ali Cowan (38) not been in such good form, Lurgan could have been chasing a low total.

In reply, the top four in the Lurgan batting order all scored steady but after Jane Kilpatrick (9), Zoe Kilpatrick (11), Vicki Gardiner (16) and Hannah Grieve (9) were all out, a batting collapse saw the game swing dramatically in favour of CSNI.

However Sandra Grieve and Julie Hinds saw the visitors home to leave the reigning Premier League champions with five wins from six games in defence of their title.
