Tricky start forPollock Park men

Niranjan Godbole will again be captaining the team with Andrew Bingham as vice captain.

Last years results showed that it was a very competitive league in which any team can beat any of the others on their day.

“We hope to be competing towards the top of Section 1 with a promising group of young players including Jack Maxwell, Callum Gibson, Qasam Mohammad and Nathaniel Ferris who have all come through the youth system,” said skipper Bingham.

“These players began to show last year that they are more than capable of performing at this level.”

A lot will depend on how Lurgan begin their campaign, a poor start and it will leave a mountain to climb in a bid to keep pace with the teams chasing promotion.

Following the game on Saturday, Lurgan are back in action again on Monday at home to Saintfield.

Pre-season plans have been hampered with friendly games being called off.
