Double praise for the supporters

FOLLOWING the team's stunning 4-2 victory over Linfield, both Glenavon's Head Coach, Stevie McBride and chairman, Adrian Teer were quick to praise the fans for their roaring encouragement.

“The support came down on Saturday and made themselves heard,” said McBride.

“The players appreciate that and respond to it. Even when somebody’s having a bad game, it’s amazing how much the supporters can help when they get behind the team the way they did on Saturday.

“The players respond by trying to put the effort in to give them something to cheer. We’re all in it together; the supporters, players, directors and backroom staff. We’ve all got our part to play and supporters have their part to carry out as well. They’ve been very good this season and it’s really appreciated.”

Chairman, Adrian Teer noted the bond that is forming between players and fans and was delighted at how vocal the support was on Saturday, in particular.

“The supporters were our 12th man,” he said.

“They were absolutely fabulous. They sounded really good and I know that the boys find it inspirational. It really was well received and an example of that was Trevor Molloy. When he scored his goal the first thing he did was run round the back of the goals to the Glenavon support.”
