LURGAN Tigers under 13 B team have secured their first league win of the season.
On Monday evening of last week as the sun shone down on Pollock Park, a rare sight of late, they played host to Donaghcloney.
This was the team’s second game of the season following a number of postponements due to the weather and they came away with a seven wicket win.
Lurgan won the toss and skipper Lewis Lawson elected to bowl first. Tight opening spells from Ethan Currie and Max Lyttle ensured that Donacloney were put under early pressure as the visitors were only able to able to reach 24 after 10 overs.
When the dangerous Thompson was dismissed for 30 this signalled the collapse of the Donacloney order and by the end of their 20 overs they had amassed a total of 75 for eight wickets.
John Lee McAfee returned the best figures for Lurgan with 2 for 8 off just two overs.
In reply Lurgan had an early scare when Lawson was clean bowled for 0 with the score on 11. This brought Ben Hunter to the middle to join Wilson and together the pair played some excellent cricket which saw them scoring at ease before Hunter was dismissed for a well played 21.
Lurgan lost a further two wickets but Wilson finished undefeated on 30 to see Lurgan home in the 15th over with seven wickets to spare.
