GLENAVON striker Mark Farren finished the season with a bang, scoring five Premiership goals and winning April’s Belleek Northern Ireland Football Writers’ Player of the Month award for April.
A delighted Farren said, “I’d like to thank Gary Hamilton and all my team mates, because without them I wouldn’t have been able to score the goals to win this award.
“Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come. With a good pre-season behind me, I can hopefully continue to score goals and help Glenavon finish higher up the league table.
“I haven’t done a proper three pre-season in three seasons, so I’m still only playing at about 50% of what I’m capable of, so during summer I’m aiming to build myself back up.
“Glenavon’s a great club. They’ve all be very friendly. It’s exactly what I needed after leaving Derry – a club where I could find myself again and get back into the scoring habit.”
Derry City’s all-time leading goalscorer got back into his old routine by scoring against Dungannon Swifts on Easter Tuesday, before striking a brace in a 7-0 demolition of Lisburn Distillery. He also registered a goal in the Mid-Ulster derby, before rounding off the season with a goal against Ballymena United.
