Hamilton inspires Glenavon comeback

Trailing 2-0 after 11 minutes to goals from Curtis Allen and Jordan Stewart, Hamilton scored in the 34th minute before Rhys Marshall levelled two minutes later.

Hamilton bagged his second and Glenavon’s third in first half stoppage time before Kyle Neill wrapped up the win with a clinical strike in the second period.

The Glens started brightly and were two goals ahead within 11 minutes. Allen was not tracked and he headed home Niall Henderson’s free-kick in the second minute. Stewart doubled the lead seven minutes later with a superb curling finish past Alan Blayney.

Glenavon’s fight-back started in the 34th minute with a classy finish from Hamilton into the top corner after being teed up by Ciaran Caldwell.

The equaliser arrived two minutes later when Marshall bundled the ball home from an acute angle from Neill’s free-kick.

Hamilton made it 3-2 in first half stoppage time when his shot deflected off Barry Holland and over the stranded Elliott Morris.

Neill added the fourth in the 71st minute when he lashed home a fine finish to complete a superb victory at a rain-soaked Oval.
