Everton bound Shayne Lavery helped put Glenavon Thirds into their second cup final of the season on Monday night.

The 16-year-old scored two in a 5-0 thrashing of Portadown in the Mid Ulster Youth Cup. Also on target in what was a very impressive performance were Mark Sykes, Gary Donnelly and Conor McKendry.

Glenavon will face Dromore Amateurs in the final at Annagh United FC, date to be confirmed.

The Thirds are also in the final of the Harry Cavan Youth Cup and play Linfield Rangers at Mourneview Park on April 10.

n There was more good news this week with Gary Lavery’s international clearance finally coming through after weeks of waiting.

Gary, who spent two years at Cardiff City, is off on international duty this week with the Northern Ireland U19 team in Holland. The first game is on Thursday night against the hosts and then they play AZ Alkmaar U19s on Saturday.

n The Glenavon Lottery numbers this week were: 12, 14, 17, 24. There were six Match 3 winners tonight. The Jackpot for next week will be £1100.
