Mark on trial at Bournemouth

DEFENDER Mark Haughey is on the English south coast this week on trial with League One side Bournemouth.

The 21-year-old has already amassed over 100 starts for Glenavon and has been in top form this season.

His performances have not gone unnoticed and he has been rewarded with the chance to showcase his talents during the trial with Eddie Howe’s side.

Gary Hamilton has wished his defender well for the trip and says the club won’t stand in Haughey’s way of a move to full-time football.

“In the long run, we want to challenge for and win trophies here but we always want to give people chances too. If I was able to produce a few players who go across to English and Scottish clubs then that would satisfy me as well.

“I had an opportunity to play in England myself and saw what it was like. I was gutted when it didn’t work out. Hopefully something works out for Mark and he can go on to bigger and better things.”
