Having been knocking on the door over the past few seasons, they finally took the title which had eluded them on several occasions.

Manager Stephen Toman could not have been happier and already he is planning his assault on the league next season as he doesn’t plan on giving up the title easily.

“The Club was formed in 2000 and to win the title is a massive thing for everyone involved,” said Stephen. “We have worked our way through from the fourth division to the first division and have been challenging for the league for the last three years only to be pipped by a few points each time.

“To finally get our hands on it has been brilliant and it has been a great year all round. We reached two cup finals although we were beat in extra time in the Mid Ulster Shield final and beat on penalties in the Alexander Cup final.

“If you had said to me at the start of the year you’ll reach a couple of finals but you’ll win the league I would have taken it.

“There was great determination from all the players and everyone at the club to succedd this year and we brought a few players in which strengthened the team.”

The new league champions are already planning ahead for the new season.

“Obviously we can’t go out of this league because you need to have your own ground and we play out of a council facility so our aim is to retain the title next season and go a step further in the cups.

“We are on the look out for players already as we want to build on the squad we have already and the aim is to start pre-season in mid July.

“Its been a great year all round for the club. Our Reserves have done really well. They won a cup a few weeks ago and they got to the final of another only to be beaten on penalties. They only need one more point to get promoted out of their league which is great for everyone.

“I would just like to thank everyone involved with the club, from the committee to the players and especially all our sponsors for the help and support they have given us all season.”
