Bernadette had a rocky start but the 24 handicapper toured the back nine in just seven over par which was good enough to hold off another 67 from Jayne Clarke on the count back.

Fresh from winning the Sunday Open, Jayne’s 67 saw her lift the section two title and her highlight was a birdie at the tenth and a two shot reduction on her handicap.

Some of our gross players found the course difficult to master but it all fell right for Niamh Ward who has been working hard and took the gross prize with a one over 73.

Niamh played the last 13 holes in 2 under par with birdies at 7, 12 and 15. Section one winner was a visitor from Knock Patricia Jordan, an ILGU official, with a nett 71 just holding off Heather Shaw on the better back nine. Runner up in section two was Liz Denver who continues her good run of form.

The section three winners were both Lurgan ladies with Priscilla Clayton winning with a nett 70 and the runner up spot going to Gina Lewis with nett 75. The front nine prize went to J McCartan from Tandragee and the back nine winner was Christine Hagan.

In her address Lady Captain thanked sponsors Perfect Day who provided beautiful prizes. Fran McCann also had special praise for the green keeper and his staff for the excellent condition of the course. Congratulations to the prize winners but especially to Bernadette Laverty the proud holder of the Menary Cup 2016.
