Ju-jitsu coach's skills brought to book

BALLYMENA-based Martial Arts instructor and International Technical Officer for the World Ju Jitsu Federation, David Toney, has published the first in a series of books on Ju Jitsu.

The book has been a year in the making and represents a culmination of over 25 years work.

It has been endorsed by Prof Robert Clark, founder of World Ju Jitsu Federation, and Dave Flaherty MBE, head of Training & Development Services in the organisation's headquarters in Liverpool.

The Federation has 42-affiliated countries worldwide, and with some saying this is one of the most comprehensive manuals of its kind, it's anticipated that it may be marketed internationally.

The book is currently available from World Ju-Jitsu's web page - www.jujitsuireland.com and will be in the shops for Christmas. There has already been an excellent response from the number sold to date. A second in the series is scheduled for release in November.

David Toney is also National Coach for WJJF Ireland, and has a club locally in Seven Towers Leisure Centre with both Junior and Senior classes. Details of training sessions can be found on the website and anyone interested in giving the sport a go, will be given a free trial class.

David won the Coach of the Year accolade for 2008 at the Ballymena Sports Awards earlier this year.
