Karate coach Dan's seminar success

BALLYMENA karate Coach Dan Redmond 6th Dan has returned from a two-day residential Martial Arts seminar at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, England.

The weekend seminar was organised by The British Combat Association and each day consisted of a total of eight hours' gruelling training with world class martial arts coaches, including Peter Consterdine, Geoff Thompson and Iain Abernethy.

Redmond is a believer in cross training. His base art is karate but he believes it is beneficial to have experience in other arts in order to be a well rounded martial artist.

Redmond is Chief Coach of Chujo Karate Association. CKA is a full member of Northern Ireland Karate Board, the Sports Council-recognised governing body for karate in Northern Ireland.

Chujo holds classes locally in Seven Towers Leisure Centre. Separate classes are available for children and adults, beginners, advanced students and improvers.

No special clothes are needed to begin classes. A tracksuit or a pair of loose fitting trousers and T-shirt will suffice. White GIs (suits) are available at all classes.

Karate is an excellent way to get fit and staying fit, learn self defence, meet new friends and more.
