Local fighters prepare for worldwide exposure

TWO Ballymena martial artists are preparing for the biggest fight of their lives – with the eyes of the world upon them!

Ryan Boyd and Colin Neeson will compete in the forthcoming Cage Wars Championship ‘Nightmare’ promotion in Belfast’s King’s Hall on November 29.

Boyd, who faces polish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Radek Rychlak and Neeson, who takes on Strabane fighter Jonny McGillion, said: “This is the biggest fight of our lives and it will be seen around the world.

“We are about to make Ballymena as well known as Las Vegas and Atlantic City for producing international fighters!”

“Cage Wars Championship, a Northern Ireland promotion has done a fantastic job of reaching around the world with the live events that are produced here in Belfast and with the TV deals they have made this event and our fights will be beamed into a half a billion homes world wide, including UK, Ireland, USA, Canada and Asia, so this is the biggest thing we have ever done.

“It’s a staggering thought that so many people have the potential to see this event which is home grown and they will all here and see our name and faces when they announce that Ryan Boyd and Colin Neeson, fighting out of Ballymena, Northern Ireland when we make our way to the Cage!”

Boyd and Neeson who fight out of IMMA Gym at Georges Street will make the walk to the cage with well known coach and fighter Rodney Moore who is another Ballymena native.

“I am very proud of Ryan and Colin, this is a massive opportunity for them to shine a light on the sport and the talent that trains in Ballymena. The Cage Wars team have really delivered on this show and it just keeps getting better,” added Rodney.

The duo are also coached by Ballymena man Colin Robinson, who has competed in the prestigious Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
