The ladies competed for the O2 trophy last Tuesday.

Clare McGourty lifted the trophy with 40 points. With two birdies at 7 and 11 Clare continued a good seasons golf.

The gross went to one of the club’s Junior Cup stars Sian Mulholland with 24 gross points helped by a par birdie finish and we wish Sian and all the junior cup team every success this weekend when they travel to Ballycastle.

There were three ladies on 34 points at the top of section one and Heather Shaw took the honours just holding off Sian and Anne Knox. Heather has been in the top ten in her last four outings so is currently enjoying a good run of form.

Grizel Turkington was the only other player to beat par on Tuesday with39 points and that earned her the section two prize and a reduction in handicap.

Section three went to the very steady Kate Kelly with 33 points including three pars on an impressive back nine.

One of the talking points of the day was who would get a two as there was a rollover this week and there were three lucky winners Christine Maguire, Susan McMorrow and Pam Morrow.

Congratulations to these three ladies and especially to Christine on winning her first prize.

Congratulations also to Clare and good luck to all the ladies competing in the Horseshoe Challenge on Friday night as they try to make it two in a row in the challenge against the men.
