Derek Church took the honours at Silverwood Golf Club on Saturday in the stroke competition with a nett 64.

He had a front nine of 39 with one birdie at the 4th hole, four pars at the 1st, 7th 8th and 9th holes, one double bogey at the 3rd hole and three single bogeys.

Derek returned 45 on the back nine which was compiled of five pars at the 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th and 18th holes, but slipped up with a quadruple bogey at the 10th hole, a double bogey at the 15th hole and two single bogeys at the remaining holes, but it was still good enough to win the day by two shots.

In second place was Damian McDowell with a nett 66, he had a front nine of 41 with four pars at the 3rd, 4th, 7th and 9th holes, one double bogey at the 6th hole and four single bogeys. His back nine was a great improvement with only three bogeys at the 11th 16th and 17th holes and six pars for his total of 81.

Third was Brian Brady with another nett 66, he had a front nine of 39 with six pars at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 8th holes, one double bogey at the 4th hole and two single bogeys.

His back nine contained one birdie at the 17th hole, four pars at the 12th, 13th 14th and 16th holes, one double bogey at the 11th hole, and three single bogeys,

The gross prize was won by Fintan McAreavey with a brilliant five under gross 67 and he shows no sign of slowing up this year with this great round of golf.

Fintan had a front nine of 33 with an eagle at the 8th hole, two birdies at the 1st and 3rd holes, two bogeys at the 2nd and 6th and four pars.

On the back nine the good round continued coming home in 34. He had four birdies at the 12th, 13th 14th and 18th holes, only one bogey at the 17th hole and four pars for another sub-par round of golf.

Fourth place went to Frank Gallagher with a nett 66.

Frank had a front nine of 38 with one birdie at the 9th hole, four pars at the 1st, 6th 7th and 8th holes and four bogeys.

His back nine of 43 contained one birdie at the 12th hole, one par at the 14th hole, and seven single bogeys.

Fifth place went to Liam Mackle with yet another nett 66 thanks to a front nine of 34 with four birdies at the 1st, 3rd 4th and 8th holes, two pars at the 7th and 9th holes and three single bogeys.

His back nine of 41 had one double bogey at the 16th hole, two single bogeys at the 15th and 17th holes and six pars.

The senior’s prize went to Eugene McKeever with a nett 68.

The junior prizes 1st Dara Morgan with a nett 67, 2nd Aaron Doyle nett 73.
