ONE of Lurgan Golf Club’s talented young players emerged with flying colours after competing in the Ulster Womens Championship last week.
Niamh McSherry, aged 14, produced a tremendous performance at Belvoir Park to finish runner-up.
The St. Mary’s High School pupil has been playing golf since she was eight, following a family tradition at Lurgan Golf Club where brother Michael and dad Ciaran are members.
“Niamh had a great tournament,” said proud dad Ciaran, who has been a member at Lurgan for over 30 years. “Her handicap is now cut to 4.5. She tries to get out on the course as much as possible and with the lighter nights she will be playing four times a week.”
