Julie Morrow emerged the cup final hero as Lurgan College retained the senior schools trophy at Lisnagarvey on Wednesday afternoon.
Morrow struck the decisive blow in added time after Rainey Endowed held favourites Lurgan College to a scoreless outcome in normal time.
Lurgan had found it tough to get into the first half with Rainey determined to close them down. After missing a chance to open the scoring following a short corner Lurgan had to defend as Rainey broke quickly and fired a shot just wide.
The second half saw Lurgan encamped in the Rainey half and they had nothing to show for four short corner routines.
With time ticking away Morrow made a great break out of defence, beat three markers but the keeper made a fine save to deny her.
Into the first period of extra time and with the silver goal rule in play Lurgan finally got the goal their patience deserved. It was Morrow with the final touch in a goalmouth scramble and just a few minutes later the hooter sounded and Lurgan could celebrate a third trophy win in four years.
