McGeeney boost

Former Armagh captain Kieran McGeeney’s arrival on Paul Grimley’s backroom team this week is seen as a major step for the Orchard county team.

McGeeney’s six year spell as Kildare manager ended last month and Grimley was quick to bring him on board as coach.

Many will see this as a stepping stone to eventually becoming Armagh manager. McGeeney captained Armagh to their only All-Ireland crown back in 2002.

Ironically, back in the 2008-09 season Paul Grimley was part of Kieran’s management team at Kildare.
