The weather at Silverwood golf club was warm last Saturday and the players have probably got their last day of summer.
This resulted in some fine scores, the winner was Peter McCabe who had a steady front nine of 20 points with his only dropped shots coming at the 1st hole with a bogey and a double bogey at the 5th.
All the remaining holes were played in par. His back was even better with one birdie at the 13th one double bogey at 15th and a single bogey at 17th, and again the remaining holes were played in par for a total of 22 points and overall total of 42 points and a one point victory
In second place with 41 points was Connor McNeice, he had 20 points on the front nine which included one birdie at the 6th, three bogeys and five pars at the remaining holes. His back nine of 21 points contained only two bogeys and seven pars.
In third place was David Mason again with 41 points. David had 21 points on the front nine with five pars and four single bogeys, his back nine of 20 points contained one double bogey, three single bogeys and five pars.
The gross prize was won by Kevin Munster with a level par 72. Kevin had only two bogeys on his card and these were cancelled out with two birdies.
Fourth prize was picked up by Martin O’Hagan again with 41 points. Martin had 21 points on the front nine with five pars and four bogeys, his back of 20 points included one birdie four pars two bogeys and a poor finish with two double bogeys.

Last week the senior’s played their last venue at a sun-kissed Lurgan, however their efforts didn’t match the glorious weather and their sum total for the three pairs was a mere 97 points.
The best pairing being that of John Duffin and Joe Kelly with 35 points.
Although the Silverwood team finished in a final ninth position, it has been a most enjoyable competition, rounded off with the prizegiving dinner.
