What a fabulous day the ladies at Lurgan Golf Club had on Saturday, courtesy of Lady Captain Anne Knox.
They enjoyed a wonderful day’s golf as they competed for beautiful prizes followed by a great evening’s craic which went on into the wee small hours.
The winner of Lady Captain’s prize was Priscilla Clayton with a nett 66. Priscilla had a steady round and just had one of those days when everything went as it should. Priscilla, who is a hard working member of the ladies committee and supports all their competitions, was a very successful member of the Challenge Cup team and was a very fitting and popular winner of the main prize.
Runners-up spot went to Grizel Turkington with a nett 67. Grizel can be somewhat erratic in her scores but her game came together at just the right time and everyone was delighted to see her secure her prize. Enjoying a welcome return to form was the gross winner Zoe Allen with a gross 75. Zoe toured the first nine holes in one over par and then unfortunately hit the bogey trail but rescued her score with birdies at two of the last four holes.
The three section winners were Fiona McGrady, 70, Olwyn Forrester, 71, and Roisin Anderson, 74. The three runners ups in the sections were Christine Hagan, 71, Heather Shaw, 71, and Joy Stevenson, 75.
The other prize winners were as follows:
Students Prize, Katie Allen; Front Nine, Pam Graham; Back Nine, Orla O’Dowd; Committee Prize, Fiona Cummins; Past Captains, Sheena McStay; 9 Hole Comp, Fiona Rowan; Nearest Captain’s Drive, Christine Hagan; Closest to the pin, Rosemary Callender; Novice Prize, Ella Beatty.
Lady Captain Anne kept everyone entertained in her speech in the evening and thanked all involved for making the day such a huge success.
