Waringstown hold nerve to clinch win in run chase

Waringstown Seconds held their nerve to clinch a hard-fought two-wicket victory over Lisburn at The Lawn on Saturday.

The visitors made a creditable 217 batting first.

Aaron Wright was the pick of the Waringstown attack with three for 43.

There were two wickets apiece for Stuart Kidd, Alan Harrison and Morgan Topping.

Waringstown’s reply got off to a disastrous start as Jonathan Waite and Morgan Topping both fell without scoring.

Topping (41) and Michael Hingston, who top scored with 52, rebuilt the innings but a gritty Lisburn side never gave up.

Andrew Mitchell and Sam Wilson each contributed 24 and Ross Waite a hard-hitting 47, but Waringstown were still short of their target when the eighth wicket fell.

Kidd saw them over the line with 14 not out.
