North Board officers appointed

THE North Board Convention was held recently and officers elected for the forthcoming year.

The chairman began his address with a minute’s silence for all those Gaels who had died over the year and a special mention was given to North Board delegate and Tir na nOg man Michael Carville who was a true gentleman in the game.

He added that 2007 had been a year of change for football in North Armagh and this has been positively embraced by the clubs. The North Armagh Working Group, set up by the clubs, produced a three year strategic plan covering all aspects of Gaelic football in North Armagh. He asked all clubs to support and help the working group in delivering on the targets set in the strategic report.

Malachy Heaney congratulated all winners of the North Board competitions and also congratulated all those clubs who kept going throughout the year when they were not successful.

A thank you to Joe Kernan was given for some wonderful years for Armagh football and best wishes were given to Peter McDonnell and the new management for 2008.

Congratulations were also given to Kevin Brady in being appointed Board Chairman.
