Seven Towers members star in North v South competition

MEMBERS of Seven Towers Leisure Centre Karate Club have competed in the 2010 North v South Karate Championships in Belfast. They came away from the Championships with four second Individual places in Kumite/Sparring, three second places in Individual Kata/Form and one third place in Kata /Form.

The boys’ team also finished second in the Team Kumite/Sparring.

Chief Coach Dan Redmond said he was delighted with his members’ performance, pointing out that this was their first ever competition outside of their own Chujo Karate Association.

Dan explained that the CKA two year plan of local competition had started to show results and predicts future successes.

Dan also pointed out that the grant aid allowance from Ballymena Borough Council had enabled a number of local competitions, which had allowed his members gain valuable experience and thanked the local authority for making the funding available.

Beginners’ classes for the Ballymena-based club are FREE during the month of February. For further information, contact Dan on 07976 987696 or e-mail chujo @hotmail.com
