Waringstown have been drawn in the same group as defending champions, Civil Service North, in the Northern Cricket Union’s Twenty20 Lagan Valley Steels Cup which will get under way in May.

The cup is for the eight NCU Ulster Bank Premier League clubs which are divided into two groups of four with Waringstown joined this season by CIYMS, Ballymena and Civil Service North.

The top two in each group qualify for the semi-finals which will be staged in Lurgan and Waringstown on Sunday, June 14, with the final the same day at Waringstown.

Lagan Valley Steels also sponsor the Twenty20 Trophy for Section 1 teams and the Twenty20 Shield for Section 2 and 3 sides, both of which are played on a straight knock-out basis.

In their opening round of the trophy, Lurgan will be at home to Bangor and Donaghcloney travel to Muckamore.

The Shield will see near neighbours Victoria with home advantage over Laurelvale while Millpark travel to Armagh.
