Ulster Council chairman praises Davitt Park effort

ULSTER Council chairman Danny Murphy has praised the effort needed to host last Sunday's McKenna Cup game held at Davitt Park.

With a potential NFL game set for Lurgan venue the Ulster official said that things had gone very well.

“I suppose form an organisational point of view thing went very well,” he said. “Davitt Park today looked very clean and tidy. In my opinion a very good effort was made by all the locals although probably Armagh supporters will be a bit disappointed with the result.

“It was great to see the game going out live so for a McKenna Cup game to pull a crowd like this in the first week in January is just fantastic.”

He continued: “The McKenna Cup has come on in leaps and bounds. It is proving to be an ideal run in for counties before the National League. Davitt park has certainly played its part today.”

Another man who noticed his support for the Davitt Park effort was new Armagh development officer Brendan Kirk who said: “I personally was very impressed today with the way things have been handled here. A lot of effort has been put in and I would like to state on record that a huge amount of credit should go to all the clubs and officials concerned.”
