Joan As Police Woman is an artist who isn’t the easiest to get into, but with her new album she’s set about remedying that.
Her music has elements of jazz, blues and soul and in her fourth studio album, The Classic, she adds to the mix some soulful fifties pop. It’s all tied together by Joan Wasser’s amazing vocals, at times as fragile as a sparrow then as angry as a bear.
The first three tracks are instantly accessible while there’s still enough alternative meanderings to please her long-time fans. GC
