Local chef dishes up tasty treats at market

Top Chef Liam McEvoy from the Lean Supper, Lurgan, rustled up some delicious dishes at Lurgan Market last week, showcasing the tasty local produce on offer and highlighting how to '˜love your leftovers'.

Using ideas from the Love Food Hate Waste Menu’s, Liam whipped up a storm with locally sourced market ingredients sausages, eggs, potatoes and vegetables for everyone to taste. Liam stylishly demonstrated how easy it is to cook up delicious meals using leftovers.

He also dished out some handy hints and tips on how to cook with leftovers and shoppers had the opportunity to ask questions about home cooking.

The morning of fabulous food was organised by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council as part of the Northern Ireland Year of Food & Drink 2016 and in support of the national Love Food Hate Waste campaign which aims to create awareness of the simple steps we can all take to reduce food waste.

Lord Mayor of Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon, Councillor Darryn Causby, said; “This event was a great way of promoting the importance of watching how much food we throw out and showcasing to locals that food made from leftovers can be delicious.

“Food waste not only has a huge impact on residents’ pockets but also on the environment through the energy used in producing and transporting the food.
