King’s Park Primary School celebrates title success!
Following success at the Flahavan’s Primary School Cross Country League, the winning girls’ team was rewarded with a special training session lead by Olympian, and 2018 European Championship athlete, Kerry O’Flaherty.
At the League final, which took place at the end of January, King’s Park Primary School claimed the title for the ‘Best Overall’ girls’ team, while St Brigid’s Primary School was awarded the ‘Best Overall’ boys’ team.
The visit from Flahavan’s Ambassador, Kerry, included a strength and conditioning session along with the opportunity to ask the professional athlete for her top training tips.
Commenting on the visit, Kerry O’Flaherty, said: “It is so humbling to encourage and teach these young athletes.
“Being a Flahavan’s League Ambassador has given me the opportunity to meet many young, ambitious athletes.
“It’s great to see their enthusiasm for running and I have loved being part of their journey!”
Kerry continued: “Nutrition is a key part of being an athlete, so a big thank you to Flahavan’s for allowing me the chance to educate on its importance.
“I look forward to following their success stories in the coming months!”
Alice Quirke, Flahavan’s Porridge Brand Manager, added: “2019 marked another successful year for the league, with over 4,000 young athletes taking part.
“This is our ninth year of sponsorship with Athletics NI, and it’s great to see the progress every year with more and more young athletes signing-up to take part.
“At Flahavan’s, we want to encourage young people to adopt a healthy lifestyle with nutrition and exercise playing an important role.
“Thanks to Kerry for helping inspire the next generation of sporting stars and congratulations again to King’s Park Primary School for their success in the League!”
