Take a selfie and help autism charity

Get your selfie sticks at the ready this December and help raise money for Autism NI’s Christmas fundraising campaign.

You can join Q Belfast’s City Beat morning presenter Stephen Clements and celebrity hair stylist Brenda Shankey as they launch the charity’s Christmas fundraising campaign ‘Selfie Claus’.

The Christmas jumper is back, bigger and more tinsel-tastic than ever, therefore don your favourite jumper, Santa hat and reindeer nose and post a ‘Selfie Claus’ for Autism NI.

It really is as easy as that - take a selfie in your most festive attire, post it to Facebook or Twitter, tagging @AutismNIPAPA and three friends you wish to nominate all whilst using the hashtag #SelfieClaus, and then donate by texting HOHO15 and the amount to 70070.

Autism NI’s corporate fundraising manager Sarah-Jayne Cassells said: “Christmas time can be difficult for families with an autistic child, any change in a child’s routine can be disruptive and anxiety provoking, making Christmas a stressful time of the year, when it brings so much joy and fun for other families. Therefore raising awareness and supporting Autism NI is very important.

“’Selfie Claus’ is a fun and very easy way of showing your support and donating to a worthy cause. We’re looking for all your jolly jumper pictures to fill our timeline this December and, raise as much as we can for the vital services we provide to families in Northern Ireland.”

With over 30,000 people in Northern Ireland affected by autism and every year over 300 children within the province are diagnosed with autism. Autism is the highest growing disability in Europe. All money raised will stay here and will go towards supporting Autism NI’s network of 26 branches and local support groups across NI and provides life changing services for the 30,000 people affected by autism.
