Telephones for schools

SOME schools in the area were considering having telephone coin boxes installed back in 1975.

The Southern Education and Library Board had been asked to consider the installation of such facilities in the bigger schools.

They were told there was a need for this type of facility by teachers and pupils.

If the scheme was approved it was thought that schools like Lurgan Technical College and Lurgan College would benefit.

It was felt that where schools were being used at night there should be access to a telephone in case of an emergency.
