Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council is urging local community groups and schools to apply for a grant from the £300,000 Challenge Fund for environment projects.

There are two categories to the 2015-16 Challenge Fund: Community Action and Environmental Education. Lord Mayor Darryn Causby urged all groups to apply.

Funding is available up to a maximum of £8,000 per community group and £4,000 per school. Community groups can make applications up until noon on June 26, and schools (Nursery, Primary and secondary level) have a later deadline of noon on September 25.

Applications are encouraged from those who have not previously benefited from the fund, particularly those projects which seek to support vulnerable, unemployed and older people.

Further information on the Challenge Fund can be found on the NIEA website or by emailing ChallengeFund@doeni.gov.uk.
