Having just graduated from Queen’s University with a degree in Political Science and World Conflict, she secured a much sought after internship with Red Bull.com in Salzburg after impressing the Editor in Chief of Red Bull media.

Ali explains how she secured her role with this world famous company.

“From the age of 16 I’ve always said I wanted to work for Red Bull and that came from my love of Formula One,” explained Ali. “Dad is my Formula One buddy and we would have sat and watched it together.”

Ali did her A Levels at Lurgan College followed by her degree at Queen’s. She then did the final year of her degree in Stockholm University through the “Erasmus” scheme. That was supposed to end in January but she liked it there and they liked her, so they agreed to let her stay and finish her degree in Stockholm.

Ali landed home from Stockholm on June 9th. She then graduated from Queen’s on 30th June. Ali says she then flew to Salzburg on July 2nd to start work with Red Bull on July 4th so everything happened really quickly.

Ali continues: “I had been scanning the Red Bull website for vacancies and the day after I arrived home from Sweden I spotted an Internship advertised with Red Bull Media so I applied for it. They offered me an interview by Skype with the Head of Human Resources and two other members of staff. I chatted to them and was told they would be in touch with me in a couple of days. However, within 40 minutes I received an email to say that the Editor in Chief of Red Bull.com media wanted to speak to me and could I Skype him the following Monday.

“During the interview he asked me if I thought Red Bull had done the right thing by bringing Max Verstappen in and dropping Daniil Kvyat into Torro Rosso. That was like manna from heaven to me and made me feel relaxed and I was in my element and chatted away to him about it. A few days later, I was offered the internship by phone call.”

With little time to settle back into life in Northern Ireland, Alexandra was on her way to Salzburg.

“I was over the moon because this really is my dream job, working in their Digital Media department,” continued Ali

“This is what I had wanted from I was 16 years of age and everything I have been working for and I am absolutely loving it. My internship runs until December 23rd and who knows what will happen then. No matter what, the fact that I have an internship with Red Bull on my CV is fantastic.”
