Ambulance crews deal with two car crash on Armagh road

The NI Ambulance Service treated a number of people at the scene of a two vehicle crash between Armagh and Portadown this morning.

The PSNI was also tasked to the incident on the main Armagh Road, Portadown not far from Richhill.

It is understood the crash happened on the Sandymount Road junction.

No one was taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for the NI Ambulance Service said it received a 999 call at 9:24am this morning.

Two Emergency crews were despatched to the scene.

The spokesperson said: “Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, no one was transported to hospital.”

Local MLA William Irwin said ‘This was a serious collision at the junction of Sandymount Road and the main Portadown Armagh Road involving two vehicles.

“Thankfully it appears no one was seriously injured as a result of the accident however both vehicles were badly damaged.

“The main Armagh Portadown Road is a very busy stretch of roadway with numerous busy junctions and recently it seems to have had its fair share of collisions. The road remains open while both vehicles are being removed.”
