Five days of five star luxury in Las Vegas was the prize that was on the cards for the winner of this year’s competition, so the competition was intense.
Down Royal teamed up with Magners Forbidden Flavours to offer the amazing prize as a special celebration of the 80th anniversary of biggest and richest flat race of the season in Northern Ireland.
Trackside, Angeline added glamour to the event and bagged herself a spot in the final of the Magners Forbidden Flavours Best Dressed Lady competition.
Fresh from her TV success in the Great British Sewing Bee, Angeline was spotted by judges who praised her eye for detail and elegance as she created a trackside flurry of excitement wearing her latest homemade creation; a blue fifties-style skirt, sweeping stove collar and elegant matching headwear brightened with diamante.
Ultimately, however, it was Kirsty Farrell from Newry who won the title and the trip to Las Vegas prize. Kirsty’s head-turning elegance caused a flurry at the fixture and earned praise from the fashion judges who admired her contemporary cream, red and black outfit with statement head piece (an ensemble from Rosie’s Closet in Newry, her mum’s boutique, and hat by Millinery by Mairead). Now Kirsty and her guest - will get to live the millionaire lifestyle for five fun-filled days … even enjoying a night time helicopter ride over Las Vegas.
Julia Galbraith, Magners Brand Manager at Tennent’s NI, said: “It was a fantastic day for everyone and now we’re all looking forward to the Magners Race Evening on Friday 22nd July which promises high level sport and just as much fun, but with a distinctly relaxed summer evening vibe about it.”
Mike Todd, Manager at Down Royal Racecourse, added: “We were delighted to have Magners as our partner for the Ulster Derby which was more memorable than ever as we celebrated the 80th anniversary of this fantastic fixture. We’re all about creating great fun as well as great horse racing and the Magners Derby Day combines sport and sociability with unique panache. This year the Best Dressed Lady Competition proved an exciting addition.”
