Antique fireplace stolen from historic home
A valuable antique fireplace has been stolen from the Demesne House in Lurgan.
The theft was discovered by the caretaker this morning (Wednesday, March 30).
The thieves gained entry by breaking a window and a number of people are thought to have been involved given the weight of the fireplace. It is also thought a van or other large vehicle may have been used in the theft.
The late 19th century sandstone arched fireplace has been described as ‘very historically and architecturally significant to the property’.
