Teenage cadets from Lurgan have been chalking up impressive achievements recently, with three members of the local Army Cadet Force Detachments being honoured at a special awards ceremony.

Celebrating success with the achievement of the Institute of Leadership Management Level 2 Award in Leadership & Team Skills were Ben Dowey and Boaz Hughes, both from Lurgan, while Nathaniel Cunningham from Donacloney earned his Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award.

Congratulating the Cadets at a recent awards ceremony which marked significant Army Cadet Force achievements, Colonel Sam McCammond, Commandant of 2nd (NI) Battalion Army Cadet Force said, “These are fantastic achievements from three highly capable Cadets and they have my hearty personal congratulations.

“For these teenagers the secret of success lies in commitment and a determination to step up to the challenge.

“The DoE Silver Award which goes to Nathaniel represents many months of commitment to a programme which encompasses four demanding sections; Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition, while the nationally recognised ILM qualification earned by Ben and Boaz reflects structured Cadet training and practice in a wide range of core leadership, management and development skills.”
