'˜Bad blood' between men leads to incident in public house

Bad feeling between two men and too much alcohol led to a 50-year-old man push another man off a bar stool in a public house.

Kieran McCrory, Ballymoney Road, Lurgan, admitted assaulting a male and disorderly behaviour on licensed premises on August 30 last year.

He was bound over for 18 months in the sum of £500 to keep the peace and be of good behaviour last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

The court heard that the injured party was in the Corner House drinking with friends when there was a verbal exchange and McCrory pushed the man off a bar stool. He then lifted his foot as if to kick the man on his head. When interviewed by police McCrory admitted the push but denied kicking the victim in the head.

A barrister representing the defendant said he was a man with no previous convictions and there was nothing else in the pipeline. She added that there was bad feeling between the two men and alcohol was involved. It was a one-off incident.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said McCrory had a clear record at a mature age.
