When he bought a car for his girlfriend a Lurgan man was not insured to drive it because it was registered in his name.
Alan Dermot McCrory, whose address was given as Belvedere Manor, Lurgan, was fined £250 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for driving without insurance on February 12 this year.
He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy and given six points.
The court heard that the offences came to light when the defendant was driving in Charles Street, Lurgan.
He had valid insurance for another vehicle but not for another vehicle which he owned.
McCrory, who pleaded guilty himself in court, said that he was covered for his own car.
He had explained he had bought the car for his girlfriend and was insured for her but was registered in his name.
